Step 2 Remove the old faucet by first disconnecting the water supply lines from the faucet stems underneath the sink using the adjustable wrench. Disconnect the water supply lines from the shutoffs or water pipe if there were no shutoffs.

Step 3 Remove the nuts on the faucet stems, using the basin wrench, and lift the old faucet off the sink top. Clean the surface of the sink top completely.

Step 4 Roll the plumber’s putty into a round length long enough to go around the perimeter of the base of the new faucet. Adhere the plumber’s putty to the base of the faucet and set the faucet in place. Make sure the faucet is squarely placed .

Step 5 Fasten the nuts to the faucet stems under the sink, using the basin wrench. Clean up any putty that may have squeezed out when the faucet was tightened down.

Step 6 Attach the water supply lines to the faucet stems, using the adjustable wrench, and then to the shutoffs or water pipe if no shutoffs were present. Turn on the water.
