The long ribbons & movement in the wind seems to scare them away. Plus the windsocks are happy & fun looking! You can get windsocks for a couple $ at the dollar stores. The trick is simple and I have used it on my close line and above my Florida room. Now the glass stays clean. The principal is this. To install a wire stretching 1/2 inch just above the edge of the gutter. You need skinny brass bolts and three little nuts for each bolt that can be used to fix them and then the wire. You will have to drill and fix the bolts and then stretch the wire between them. Spacing should be about every 5 to 6 feet and don't forget to do the corners too. Anywhere the little feet can sit.
