We have a couple of bird nests in our gutters and the birds are very happy to drop on our cars all day long. It’s getting frustrating and they “have to go”. Any ideas?

Try Putting a fake snake on the roof. Birds don’t like snakes much!

place panty hose over cutters or chicken wire
make it harder for them to roost or you can try one of those robot owls that turns there head and hoot scares birds off

i has the same problem. I suggest you buy a replica of an owl, but try to get one with shining eyes. Also try to find where they put their nest, and if it is possible cover them. If the whole can’t be covered then simply destroy the nest or place it somewhere else.

Some people swear by those fake owls. I guess it might be worth a try? Also, they don’t like shiny things. My neighbor hangs up the AOL discs in the front and the birds don’t bother.

I can’t get rid of your nests but I could make your birds miserable enough not to sit on the gutters and poop below. The trick is simple and I have used it on my close line and above my Florida room. Now the glass stays clean.
The principal is this. To install a wire stretching 1/2 inch just above the edge of the gutter. You need skinny brass bolts and three little nuts for each bolt that can be used to fix them and then the wire. You will have to drill and fix the bolts and then stretch the wire between them. Spacing should be about every 5 to 6 feet and don’t forget to do the corners too. Anywhere the little feet can sit. I had this done by the roofer. It works like a charm and you can’t really see it.

An owl. Okay not an actually owl but a sculpture or garden ornamental one. Many birds simple can’t and won’t compete for territory that an owl is around. If that doesn’t work they do have gutter covers, this not only helps keep leaves out of the gutter but birds from nesting as well.

I have used colorful windsocks hung from the corners of my gutters. The long ribbons & movement in the wind seems to scare them away. Plus the windsocks are happy & fun looking! You can get windsocks for a couple $ at the dollar stores.
