When you are plunging it you need to cover the other side of the sink if there is one or any holes that may be in the sink such as overflow holes. Pouring bleach in the drain is also very helpful as well as dawn dish soap!!! Good Luck I went through this yesterday!!

I just had this done last week $186.00 dollars, He told me that you snake it, but there might be a Tee shape pipe down further, so you have to keep wiggling the snake Right and Left to get passed it, It cost me that much because my husband broke the pipe, (DONT ASK) If you want Try this first.Take 1/2 cup of baking soda and pour it down the drain, Then add 1/2 cup of vinegar and pour it down the drain. This will start to foam, when the foam subsides, then let the hot water run, down to help unclog the drain.

You may have to get a plumber. Our sink does the same thing and it is because the plumbing is to far away from the plumbing vent and it isnt getting enough air in the pipes to help flush the water from the drain. One thing I found that helps for some really really weird reason, is turning on my garbage disposal. We tried various liquids and stuff to and they didnt work. So we called a local plumber and that is what he told us.

i wish to add a note because of an answer above. IF you decide to use muriatic acid, be very careful. it is dangerous stuff. don't breath it, and if you have kids, keep them away from it. and do not keep the rest of the acid around where kids can find it. my suggestion, don't use it if possible.

never use acids think about it IT'S ACID. Most of the time it doesn't work and it might make a leak. always use mechanical meets like a plunger or a spring snake. home depot rents drill snake and they aren't expensive. otherwise call a plumber before you tear it up and it costs more to fix.

do you have a disposal under the sink check it they can clog up easy
also if draino dident work then take off the pipe under the sink take a cloths hanger stretch it out see if the block is close
if so use the hanger
most likley you have a build up in the pipe you will probley have to have it snaked you can do it your self if you rent one or know someone that has one but check you disposal first and then check it with a hanger
or call a plumber

Follow the pipe to where it goes into the floor or ground. If you can remove it, chances are you'll find what is stopping up the drain. The first thing I do is put a garden hose down the kitchen sink drain and turn it on full force. Sometimes it will dislodge the blockage, sometimes not.
