How do you unclog a kitchen sink that has a garbage disposal? Mine happens to be draining into the sink in the garage and every time I clear the sink in the kitchen and try using the disposal again, not only does the sink in the kitchen fills up, but the water shoots out of the drain in the sink in the garage; not only is this disgusting and inconvenient, but I have food/dirty water particles all over the garage floor.

Buy some industrial strength drain opener. Stay away from the expensive name brands like Drano and just get one that says industrial strength. I get one that is in a white bottle with red logos and red lettering. Forgot the name but it works everytime. Put some in both sinks and let it sit like the directions say. I usually let it sit for double the time it says to. Then run hot water at full blast for a while.
You can also use a toilet plunger. Run water in the garage sink until it begins to back-up into the sink and fill it partially. Then, put your plunger over the drain and plunge the heck out of it up and down until your arms are burning! This alost always pushes through the clog. Do the same for the kitchen sink if it doesn’t do anyting from the garage side. You can try the snake, but these are nasty to use and sometimes hard to get around all the bends and j-traps.
Sounds like you have a clog that is in the line after the sink in the garage?
I would get on roof and run snake thru vent.
I agree with Bub. It sounds like the obstruction is downline from the garage sink. You can run a snake,
available at home centers, rental centers or good hardware stores, through the drain. You can get them in various lengths and either manually operated or equipped to be attached to a drill. Sometimes a plunger will work if it is not a solid clog. I would start at the garage drain and try the plunger. If that doesn’t work, get the snake and disconnect the trap under the sink and run the snake downline a good twenty feet or until you hit the obstruction. Then reconnect the p trap and test it.
