good question.
A handy man is a person that can fix, repair or make something, this person would have acquired the necessary skills to undertake many projects
A general laborer is a person that would help a handyman or general contractor.
Although the term laborer could sound less important, some laborers have learned enough from a hands on approach, and can actually be worth a lot of money if they are dedicated to their job.
To build a house you need several key things, skills, experience and labor.
A skilled handyman can carry a sheet of 4x8 sheet of plywood, but it would seem crazy for him do so if he could be installing it.
A laborer would carry the 4x8 sheet , but a good laborer would ensure he supplies his boss with enough sheets and placed in the right area, he would also gain knowledge of how to install and become a valuable piece of the jig saw puzzle.
A general laborer could earn a wage, a good laborer can command a better salary.
hope this information has helped to answer your question.

A handyman generally has some skills in the trades and can be very helpful for many improvement or repair projects. A general laborer normally is unskilled specifically but can handle menial tasks with instruction.

A handyman is able to do some skilled trade things. A general laborer will do unskilled work such as digging by hand, lawn mowing, general clean up of construction sites, and certain more skilled things under supervision.

These are words that don't have a specific dictionary meaning; but generally, a handyman is a "jack of all trades", someone who has some experience in a variety of construction or maintenance jobs, but not an apprenticeship or journeyman rating in a union program (such as carpenter, plumber, electrician, gardener or a general contractor's license. A general laborer is someone who may or may not be skilled in one or any of the trades or skills, but can do general labor work under some supervision. (sometimes called "day laborer"), this type of person would have less experience, or more use in general labor jobs than specialization.
