What Is Involved In Getting Your Furnace Serviced?

I know I need to get my furnace service and my ducts cleaned — this will be our 3rd winter in our house and it’s never been done. What does duct cleaning and furnace servicing involve? Can you give be price ranges? Do they use a big vacuum type thing? Is there any drawbacks to having a furnace serviced? For example I know if you flush the transmission of an older car that hasn’t regularly been serviced the cart usually ends up with transmission problems — has anyone had similar problems with their furnace?
Thanks in advance!

  1. along with changing your filer every 2 months you should have the furnace serviced or [clean and checked]because they will check for cracked heat exchanger.oil the moter, adjust air/gas mixture, and visually inspect the various safety switch’s.it should cost about 50.00 for the service .as for the ducts being cleaned they will cover your air returns with cardboard .and put a vacuum to the supply registers.they also can add deodorizers and sanitizers.for about 200.00 .

  2. Yes, get it checked by an expert, it also puts dust in your house that you not even aware of. It can also slow down your fan blower which would be less economical.

  3. called a qulified heat and hvac repairman … don’t play around with the lives of anyone who lives in the house where the furnace is. the wrong (inexperienced ) person could lose you your life and/or your house!!
