I Want To Remodel My Home; Who Do I Contact For Design Plans, And Estimates? How Does The Process Work?

My wife and I recently bought a new home. We want some remodeling work done to it. But we don’t know how to go about doing it. Its a 1900s Greek revival. We want the Outside to keep many of its Historic features. However, we want the interior to fit our sense of style. Is it Interior Designers or contractors or both? We need also need some concrete work done to the steps. How should i approach this?

  1. If you have a very large project and want professional help, you should call an interior designer. If your project is fairly simple and you already know near exactly what you want, go straight to a contractor who can help you find a good architect to draw the plans to submit to the city for approval.
If you are not adding anything to the foundation or main structure, then your contractor may not need an architectural drawing to submit to the city. You may be able to simply sketch out your floor plan and with changes that you want for the contractor to use.
If you are not moving any walls or changing or making any major structural changes, then you shouldn’t need any designers or architects.
However, you might want to get a good interior decorator.

  2. You need someone who specializes in renovation. I don’t know exactly where you live, but one that I can highly recommend in the Southeastern Wisconsin area is MD Custom Homes and Renovations.http://www.mdcustomhomebuilders.com
If you need someone else in your are, contact the state or local builders organization for recommendations.
    Blessings on your project!
