I Have Hardwood Floors In My Apartment; What Can I Do To Reduce The Noise That Travels Besides Rugs?

I have a 2 bedroom apartment with hardwood floors. My roommate and I have started keep really different hours, so I’m trying to find ways to keep the noise down for both our sakes. We have rugs in all the common areas, but we can’t think of anything else to reduce the noise.

sound proofing ur walls, but thats a lot of work & it can get expensive… best solution is not 2 wear loud shoes in the apartment, or use carpet… although covering wood flooring is a real shame.
Buy a bunch of cozy slippers, keep them at the front door and
make sure that you and your roomate take off street shoes
as soon as you come in and replace with the slippers. Have
a few extra pairs for company (One of my friends collects
the slippers that some hotels leave for guests…..of course, she does a lot of business travel and gets put up at some
high end joints, so she has a bin full of new slippers )
Slippers are much nicer than asking houseguests to go
barefoot, sock or stocking feet in your home (cause sometimes the socks are a little worn and can embarrass
your friends) See if that helps.
how about
everyone wearing house shoes indoors
that will cut noise way way down
other than that
invest in nice ear plugs
or more carpets
I think you are out of luck, unless you are in a postition to do some major construction.
Walk lighter, barefoot…other than that, I think this is a lost cause without rugs.
