You guys make it look so easy, but I am determined to drain, acid wash and paint my pool this winter (I live in Phoenix metro area), as well as repair the pool deck. I probably will save hundreds of dollars after seeing how we can do this on our own. Thanks for your excellent explanations and availability for questions and answers! P.S. My pool is at LEAST 30 years old.

Dan – quick question. After repairing the plaster and painting the pool, how long can we safely leave it without water before refilling it?

you should refill it as fast as possible so you do not run the risk of the empty pool shifting or popping up. follow the recommended drying time on the paint instructions and refill shortly after that. dan

you can use hydrolic cement, but it is harder to work with. i would not just buy resin and mix it in to another product that is not made for it. we sell the ez patch on our web site and could ship it to you. it is worth it. thanks for watching – dan

great stuff, Dan! Q: The top 8-10 inches of my gunnite pool leaks through the plaster all around the perimeter of the pool. So I’m guessing that the whole area above the (now lower)water line needs to be replastered. Is this too daunting a task for one person and the E-Z patch material? Is there some other replastering substance that would be better? I’m definitely wanting to DIY, since there is no budget for a contractor. I just want to replaster the area leaking, not the entire pool. thx

it is a big job, but the ez patch would work. you could also try home depot for hydrolic cement or other waterproof cement / plaster based products. but i have always had the best luck with ez patch cause it is easy to install and gives a great finish without much skill. the other stuff does require more expertise in installation and it can look like crap if not done right. ez patch is better for beginners, i think. thanks for watching – dan

So basically, mix E-Z Patch with water, acrylic resin and then and spread on the spot to patch. (is that basically your saying? because you have a lot of things to do this and i plan on doing this in spring!)

The air conditioner is running good, Its says its cool according to thermosat, but things in the house feels "wet". We turned off the air for a day and it seemed like things didnt have that 'wet" feel. I was wonder if it was the air unit itself?? […]
