How Much Money Does It Cost To Have A Cieling Fan Installed?

We want several cieling fans installed in our home and are curious how much it would cost to pay someone else to do it, rather than do it ourselves. Five ceiling fans to be exact. Does anyone have any idea how much this might cost us….with or without materials?

I’m 60 years old, and I JUST installed one in my kitchen, alone.
Well, my husband owns his own electrical company and we have installed ceiling fans before…I would have to say that you could call around to different electricians and ask what their hourly rate is — could be anywhere from $50 – $100/hour depending on where you live.
If you are requiring them to uninstall other fans first, it will take longer than just putting in fans. If there is no wiring in place for the fans to begin with, this will take even longer, as they have to access the crawlspace or attic space and “fish” the wires up or down to where the switch box will be.
Are you supplying the fans? And if you are and if where you are installing them is a high ceiling, make sure you have the correct length of downrod, which is often sold separately. If you go to a lighting store, they can help you pick out what kind of fans would work best for your purposes and make sure you get the right downrods — OR if your ceilings are lower (8′) than you might need a fan that is a “ceiling hugger” so it isn’t hanging way down into the room.
So, I know I haven’t answered your question exactly, but there are often a lot of variables to installing fans, like the ones I mentioned above. Also, sometimes you have to change out the box the fixture was in (assuming you are installing it where a light fixture was) because it needs a fan box which will hold the extra weight of a fan.
AS A GUESS — if it is just to install 5 fans, no fishing wire, no taking other fans or fixtures down, AND all the parts are there — I would say it would take about an hour per fan, and that is with a professional doing it. It could take up to 16 hours (2 days) to install them if wires need to be fished, etc.
Most electricians will give free estimates — have 3 of them come out and take a look, than can tell you what needs to be done, give you an estimate, make suggestions about where to get fans, etc. They usually do it for free…
Hope this helps!
The handy man for our building charges $100 for big fans and $75 for small fans.
depending how much your ceiling fans cost i suppose. but really you don’t need to hire anyone to install a ceiling fan it’s the easiest thing in the world you can have all 5 installed in half an hour. it’s only three wires. you’re live wire (normally black or coloured), your common (white wire) and your ground (green wire) these wires are already on your ceiling fans and in your ceiling where your previous light was. just make sure to turn the switch off before playing with the wires. connect the wires with some size 33 marettes that you can buy at your local home depot. easy as that.
I’m from North Carolina and the electrician most of my neighbors used charged $100 a piece which is why hubby installed ours. We did not, however, have the ceiling outlets for them which he had to wire.
